The first move: Routines
"Mornings, homework, and bedtime are a battle."
The standard
The routine is the standard, not a negotiation.
Say this
Morning — "Black belt morning. Let's go."
Bedtime — "Brush teeth, pajamas, bed. Go."
When they push
I'm not negotiating the routine. You know it. Let's go — I'm walking you there.
Your 24-hour plan
- 1Post the routine where they can see it. Name it once.
- 2Say the cue, then walk them into step one.
- 3Recovery rule: if it falls apart, don't restart the week — return to the standard.
This is the exact leadership your kids build on our mat — the same words at home, at school, and in class.
